Today, I wanted to talk about something that I know many of you can relate to (myself included):
The endless supply of holiday sweets & treats.
This means plenty of possible little handfuls tossed back without even really noticing. Before you know it, this can lead to our total demise when it comes to sticking to any kind of health and weight loss goals.
So, how do we prevent ourselves from losing our hand in the cookie jar? And for that matter, all the other jars, bags, and various containers that house all the yummy treats we desire.
Here are a few tips:
- A Clean Counter = Clean Eating. Who doesn’t love to bake goodies around the holidays? Or at least enjoy an extra chocolate “something?” But, the key is to put it away. Don’t leave it on the counter where you can mindlessly decide to have a little slice of banana bread because you want to “even out the loaf.” Consider it a treat and leave it at that. Out of sight, out of mind, right?
- Bag Lazy. Have you ever gone into your cupboards and seen a bag of granola or chips or cookies only half closed? Well, guilty as charged. This is why I make a constant effort to make sure to seal or close all boxes and bags. This forces me to be mindful of which snacks I choose to open. What is my body really asking for, instead of focusing on what’s convenient or right in front of me?
- Close Those Lids. Don’t just dip your spoon in and have a taste, leaving the lid off for the next time. Be sure to tightly close those lids to prevent temptation. Even though it doesn’t seem like much, little “tastes” can add up.
Small changes lead to big results over time, even during the holidays.
Now, I’d love to hear from you.
