November 26 – 28, 2010 in beautiful Canmore, Alberta

A three-day/two-night retreat to help you unwind, have fun and connect with 10 other amazing, like-minded women.

To live the life you want means you need to dedicate some attention to creating some “sparkle” in your life. And when was the last time you had the chance to do that?

FACT: Women today are under more stress than ever before to do more, be more, have more – and to do all of that exceptionally well.

I bet you do an exceptional job of  meeting everyone elses needs. And probably, because you’re so good at this, it’s become really easy to ignore your own goals, your own dreams and how you’re going about living your own life. You can lose site of what’s important to you without even knowing it and when that happens the “sparkle” in your life starts to fade.

Here’s the thing, The Way Matters:

The way you life your life matters.

The way you make decisions matters.

The activities that you dedicate your time, energy and attention to matters.

And if you’ve lost site of what matters then having that “sparkle” in your life can feel impossible.

The Way Matters Retreat is a weekend unlike anything else you’ve ever experienced. It’s about claiming some time for yourself to look at what matters and get you more in touch /intentional /purposeful about where you’re going in your life and what you’re wanting to create.

What exactly does this retreat entail?

This retreat weekend was designed to give you the break you need and includes a variety of activities that will help  you nourish your mind, body and soul.

This is an active retreat so although there will be wine to drink and good chocolate to eat, it’s a lot more than just lounging around. All of the activities are geared at stimulating the parts of you that can so easily get ignored – your feelings, your body, your thoughts.

We’ll be doing mini group workshops, yoga, hiking, writing, talking, sharing, laughing AND having some quiet time. I’ll be available for mini coaching sessions throughout the retreat as well.

What’s the difference between this and a girls weekend away?

Here’s the thing, a weekend away with girlfriends is great and chances are you’ve been talking about doing something like this for a while now..but have you done it? Will you?

Even if you started to thinking about planning a weekend away there’s a ton involved! It’s hard to find people to go with, it’s hard to figure out who’s going to be responsible for what, and someone is always going to have something come up which means re-scheduling the weekend, which means it never happens, which means you never get that time for yourself.

More importantly, as fun as it is to get away with girlfriends it doesn’t actually do much to help you move forward. You get the time to yourself but then you come home and you’re right back in the thick of it.

This retreat is about helping you truly transform an area of your life that you’re feeling blocked in. It could be your career, your health, your relationship, your creativity……You’re going to get the space you want and the time you need to learn new strategies and tools to create a breakthrough that lasts – even when you return to “real life”.

Here’s what we’re going to be doing:

Day 1 Friday, November 26, 2010

  • Arrive in Canmore any time after 5pm.
  • Check in to your beautiful suite and get refreshed and then meet up at my place
  • Enjoy a welcome reception with a little bubbly and appy’s.
  • Dive into Workshop #1: What Matters
  • Get to know one another even better while whipping up something fabulous in the kitchen and enjoying a home cooked meal
  • After dinner we’ll sit down by the fire to set the foundation for the weekend by  doing a fun and intentional guided writing exercise
  • We’ll finish the evening off with a delicious chocolate fondue and hang out time

Day 2 Saturday, November 27, 2010

  • Wake up to a beautiful mountain morning and walk to our private yoga class.  This class will be tailored to suit exactly what the group needs. If it’s gentle and restorative yoga so be it, if it’s energizing and rejuvenating yoga that’s perfect too.
  • Enjoy a fabulous and healthy breakfast and then move into one of the mini workshops of the weekend.
  • Next we’ll take some time for lunch before heading off to the beautiful Willow Stream Spa located in the world famous Banff Springs hotel in Banff Alberta and indulge in a pampered afternoon.
  • You’ll have time to enjoy the water baths, the eucalyptus steam room, the sauna, the mineral pool and the hot tub plus be treated to a 60-minute massage (you get to choose the type).
  • We’ll return to Canmore to get ready and enjoy a cocktail or two before heading out to dinner at a renowned Canmore restaurant.  After dinner you’re welcome to let the night continue on or return to the suite for a movie and popcorn.

Day 3 Sunday, November 28, 2010

  • Allow yourself the luxury of sleeping in and then bundle up as we head outside for a beautiful hike up one of Canmore’s incredible mountain peaks (weather permitting).
  • We’ll return home to a gourmet breakfast and then move into another circle group workshop.
  • Knowing that many will have travel plans we’ll finish up with any of the “retreat stuff” by 1:00pm so there’s time to enjoy lunch, pack up and make your way back home.

I designed this retreat so that for the duration of your weekend you won’t have to open your wallet once (except if you want to do a little personal shopping). Here’s what’s included:

  • Champagne and appetizers upon your arrival
  • 2 nights accommodation at the beautiful Rundle Cliffs Luxury Mountain Lodge
  • Private bedroom with either a Queen or King size bed
  • Incredible 2 or 3 bedroom suite to call “home” for the duration of the retreat
  • All of your meals and snacks – dinner on Friday, breakfast & lunch on Saturday
  • An amazing dinner at one of Canmore’s finest restaurants on Saturday night
  • A fully stocked fridge and pantry with the basics (yogurt, cheese, crackers, fruit, veggies, dips) plus treats like chocolate, ice cream and cookies
  • Beautiful wines to enjoy and a variety of beer, sparkling water, pop, coffee/tea (everything except spirits) to choose from

My Story

Not too long ago I was feeling very disconnected from myself. With all of the hats that I wear (mom, entrepreneur, coach, wife, friend, triathlete and on and on…) I’d somehow lost a piece of me. The piece that made “me” feel like “me”.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved my life but I was also tired too and that’s when I made the decision to go on a retreat myself. Making the commitment to go was one of the hardest decisions I made because I had so many crazy thoughts running through my head and I also had a lot of feelings whipping through me:

  • I felt scared to take that time for myself
  • I felt scared that if I left for a weekend something might happen or my kids wouldn’t be ok
  • I felt nervous that although my husband said he was totally supportive that really he wasn’t
  • I felt selfish
  • I felt guilty for wanting to have some time away – like somehow it made me a bad wife or a bad mom or something ridiculous like that

But I went anyways and I cried all the way through customs and security. And I continued to feel anxious on the flight and when I landed I immediately called home to make sure everything was ok. AND….

…it was.

Then something magical happened. I was able to relax and hear my own thoughts. I was able to think about my life because I wasn’t so busy “doing”. And it allowed me to reclaim that piece of “me” that I thought I’d lost.

And thought allowed me to remember everything.

I am still “me”…everything that was a part of me is still there and it may not come to the surface every single day but I have not lost it. It allowed me to recognize that this is simply a moment in time when I have so much on my plate

Remembering it even felt so good.

I’ve had this retreat planned in my head for over two years and I finally felt inspired to put it all together and create this opportunity for other women. I want you to have the opportunity of being taken care of for a weekend, of being in a space that is fun and safe and nurturing.
