Is it me or has April flown by? As the first full month of spring, it’s always one of my favourites because in my house there’s a new sense of excitement.
The days are longer, it’s finally not as cold here in Calgary (Canada) which means my family is outside more, longer walks for the dog, and an overall sense of relief that the harshness of winter is behind us.
It’s also one of my favorite months to check-in with the goals I set at the beginning of the year, track what’s working and where I need some more focus, and recommit.
This is also the perfect time to check-in on your weight loss goals.
It’s easier to catch if you let yourself take stock every few weeks or so as opposed to letting yourself get so far down the rabbit hole it’s hard to come back.
That’s why this month I’m excited to share 3 surprising things that can help you recommit to your goals.
A Better Morning Routine With Hot Coffee
Calling all my people who like their coffee HOT. Who’s with me? Now I know this is a splurge but the Ember Mug has been a game changer for me.
For years, I’d spend most of my mornings constantly filling my coffee up to “warm it up” and because of that, I’d end up wasting a lot of coffee.
It allows you to set your precise drinking temperature. And it automatically wakes up when your coffee (or tea) is poured in and remembers your last preferred drinking temperature.
(Ah-mazing, right?)
But what does hot coffee have to do with reaching my ideal weight, you might be asking?
A strong morning routine is critical for healthy weight loss. No matter what roadblock you may have encountered yesterday, each morning gives you a clean slate and having a morning ritual with time for mindfulness (more on that in a second) and healthy breakfast – along with your favorite morning beverage – can make all the difference.

Tracking Goals Is Key For Weight Loss
Next part of my spring recommitment is all about tracking. My friend Julie Serot turned me onto The Bullet Journal and I’m hooked.
I buy journals like some people buy gum so I know a good one when I see one. There’s something really powerful about putting pen to paper and physically writing down what you want to accomplish.
What I love about this journal is it’s really a mindfulness practice. As I mentioned above, this, too, is critical for healthy weight loss.
The Bullet Journal is designed to help you organize your what while you remain aware of your why. The goal is to help you live with more intention and be more productive with your time and energy.
(There is also a book that goes with it that I highly recommend, as well!)
Make It Easy To Drink More Water
My third and final spring recommitment is all about hydrating. This is especially important as the weather starts to get warmer.
Drinking more water helps rid the body of waste, can reduce liquid calorie intake, and is a natural appetite suppressant.
While I don’t have this water bottle yet, I had to share it with you because I’m really digging it.
This smart water bottle has LCD display which tells you the temperature of the water inside and reminds you when it’s time to drink more.
Drinking the right amount of water is a must for me and this bottle has a sleek design which I’m super excited about getting.
